  1. #25 Answer #1: Slavery may or may not be illegel in other countries. If it is, maybe people might start prottesting and the slavery will end.

Answer #2: I think it was done in 1865 because people want to be free in our future. But, they also did it to be free back then.

  2. Yes it does matter to us today because if you took this rule away we would still have slavery. But if you took some of the other amendments away they probably wouldn’t make a difference in our lives. I think it was made to stop slavery. I think it was done in 1865 because the quicker you make the rule the sooner it will stop.

The 13th Amendment was made in 1865. This Amendment focused on ending slavery. The Amendment is still important today because after slavery ended the America became a far better place. Without slavery people were free. More people had better lives without slavery. The Amendment was made to end slavery. The Amendment was made in 1865 because slavery was terrible at that time.

    The Thirteenth Amendment
In April, 1865, Abraham Lincoln made the thirteenth amendment after the civil war and completely abolished slavery, except for criminal punishment.
This amendment had lots to do with civil war. Because when the people of the North, who did not like slavery, found out that the people of the South had slaves, they went to the South to free the slaves. After they had won what we call the civil war, Abraham Lincoln created the thirteenth amendment to the constitution to completely get rid of slavery. This affects us today greatly, because slavery was not fair to the people who were slaves, but today our country is a slavery-free country.

The 13 Amendment to the Constitution declared that "Neither savery norinvoluntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdicton." Formally abolishing slavery in the United States, the 13 Amendent was passed by the Congress on january 31, 1865, and ratified by the states on December 6, 1865.

  6. 1. Yes, because it was very important, it gave the right for slaves. The amendment changed a lot of people’s lives but caused war. Some people wanted slaves so the war was against people who want slavery and people who do not want it.
    2. It happened because people did not want to have slavery; slavery was a bad thing to do people never thought of them humans. It happened in 1865 because it was getting very bad then, and people thought that was horrible.28

The 13th amendment is an abolition of slavery which means, that this amendment is saying that slavery is wrong and there will be no more of it. This amendment is very important still to this day. Because, slavery was an awful thing and if we had it still our country wouldn’t be the same at all. It would be similar to the 1860’s and nothing would have really changed in the past 145 years. If we still had slavery

The 13 amendment is called Abolition of slavery. This amendment does still matter because without it everybody will judge you and if they don’t like you they either kill you or make you a slave. Because back then they were tired of being slave and getting killed because the king didn’t like them so they made a contract or a rule that they cannot be slaves or get judge and then get killed. This change really means that you cannot be judged and cannot be a slave and that everyone is equal. So now we live in a peaceful place so thank you for the people that made this amendment.

    1. Because slavery is still wrong. And every person deserves equal rights no matter what skin color they are that is why it is still important to us today.
    2. This amendment was made because Africa Americans where not being treated as equals. It was made around this time because in 1865 people in America thought slavery was right.

Yes the 13th amendment still matters to day because if we didn’t follow it, slavery would be allowed. It would also be allowed for a punishment. The reason why the 13th amendment was made is because they wanted to stop slavery. I think the 13th amendment was made in 1865 was because a lot of slavery was going on and they were making laws.

    #1 Yes

#2 it shows that we can’t be told to work agents your will.

#3 the reason that it was made was so people can’t be in slaved agents there will. The only time it is right is when you are told to do community serves.

#4 the reason that it was made in 1865 is because of the civil war. The freedom of slavery to let the slaves free.

The 13th Amendment meant that there won’t be slavery unless it’s punishment for a crime that they did. Even though that amendment was made 145 years ago, it still matters to us because without the 13th Amendment there would still be slavery in the Southern Colonies. I think the 13th amendment was made because some people didn’t want slavery. It was made in 1865 because that was the time after the Civil War.

Yes because part of the 13th Amendment is no slavery unless its punishment for a crime and today we are not allowed to do slavery. And the other part of the 13th Amendment is Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.
    #30
Because it was after the civil war. And that’s what the whole civil war was about. Slavery was mostly what the civil war was about.

  16. Yes this amendment is very important. If the U.S.A did not have this amendment there would be more wars and more people being mistreated.

I think this amendment was made because people were being killed and they just had war because of slavery.

    1) Yes because they made it ahead of time just in case we needed it later
    2) The reason why I think they made the 13th amendment was so they could have everything before
    3) For the people after them.

Yes this Amendment still matters today because the amendment stopped slavery. It was made to stop slavery. It was made because that was when the most slavery happened.

  19. #25 I think it doesn't matter to us today because slavery ended almost 145 years ago. It's been forbidden from the USA since slavery ended. If slavery wasn't against the law, many people will be enslaved instaed of having a happy life and being free. My next answer is: This amendment was made so slavery can be stopped. I think it was made in 1865 because everyone wanted to end slavery in the future and they wanted people to be free back then too.

The 13th Amendment was made 145 years ago, but it still matters to us today. Here’s why. If someone thought that slavery was the most awesome thing in the world, they would capture a slave. If another person saw how easily that person was living his or her life, then they would get a slave. That would cause a chain reaction, and slavery would shoot up in popularity. But with the 13th Amendment in place, that first person would get arrested, and everybody would be warned not to get a slave.
The 13th Amendment was made in 1865. This is because at that time the civil war was raging. So, the government created Amendment #13 to outlaw slavery. Because of this law, the confederates surrendered, and the war was over.

  21. #16 I think The 13th Amendment still matters today because some people would not have a easier life, and they wouldn't be free to do what they want. And now that we do have The 13th Amendment all people of the United States can do what they like and want. The 13th Amendment is very important to us today.

The text in the 13th amendment says ‘Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, exept as a punishment for crime where the of the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States or any place subject to their jurisdiction.2.Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.
It was made in that time because people in the U.S.A. used to make people slaves against their will and have them do whatever there owner wished and if the slaves or servants refused to their command they would beat them or kill them, it was made by our president Abe Linchon after the civil war because that is what the war was about slavery. Abe made a good decision because if he didn’t the U.S. might have slaves today so to me it matters. The only way it is still in the U.S. is if it is a punishment proven by the judge and jury.

  23. The 13th amendment says that having a slave or forcing someone to work illegal unless they are in jail. The amendment was passed on January 31, 1865. It was the first of the reconstitution amendment. The reconstitution amendments were amendments that were passed in 1865-1870 the first 5 years that followed the civil war. I think the 13th Amendment was and still is important because it prevents slavery. Slavery is not right and it started because a bunch of businesses were being cheap and wanted to make more money. The amendment was made the year the civil war ended. The civil war was a fight for slavery. The confederates lost and the amendment was made. If the amendment was not made I think almost everyone would have a slave. The color or race doesn’t matter you can’t make anyone a slave in the U.S.A.

The 13th Amendment still matters to us today because if the 13th Amendment was not made people would mistreated and been rudely treated. The 13th amendment was made so people were not been mistreated .

  25. Yes it was right after the civil the people who brought them told them to go to fight for them so they so don’t die so they will live. They won’t have to be killed in the fight. It was made because they were being treated badly and there were being second class. There were the thing that people hated. 7#

    1. The amendment is still important to us today because its freedom. Because the thirteenth amendment freed the all slavery. So now the thirteenth amendment is still here today for freedom.
    2. It matters to us today because it’s all freedom. So it’s still here today and I doubt that amendment will change.
    3. So the slaves can be free and have a good life I think.

  27. 7# 1. Yes. I think it is import amendment that it’s saying no slavery is allowed in the United States. Every person has same rights. People should be treated the same level not just because there different. 2. It was made because slaves were being treated badly. This amendment was made in the 1865 right after the civil war was done.
