  1. #29-Yes,because she won lots of medals but,she is also getting older. When she gets older, she will lose her flexibility and she won't get many medals. She also gets other skaters to win compititions.

  2. #11- I think she made the right choice, because if its your dream the you should go for it! I also think she made the right choice because she thought she was ready and she sure was. Michelle Kwan is one that truly stands out there becausse, well as Mr. Hurley was talking about today in class, she doesn't get paid very much for ice skating, although she does get to do what she loves, and some people that want gto do it for money most of the time aren't doing the thing they've always dreamed to do. Michelle Kwan is a very special woman.

Yes, I think that Michelle did the right thing to become a senior skater because she followed her dreams and that is she wanted to do when she was just a few years old. Even though her coach said she wasn't ready for it, Kwan still went for but did listen to what her coach had to say to get to the next level. Michelle had to work alot harder to get there. One of the things that Frank said is, " You need to know how to hear the music.you are going to have to transfrom your skating."

  4. #18: Michelle Kwan was taking a risk in deciding to become a senior skater but it seems she also knew the rules. I think she was right to become a senior skater because she was successful and she did well in the competitions including the Nationals and the Olympics in 1994.

  5. #6:I think she made the wrong choice of becomeing a senior skater at such a young age exspecially because her coach frank said not to. But she did it anyways and she won so I think frank is happy now.

I think that she did the right thing and the wrong thing. She was good enough because she did win alot of medals in the pros. She did however not listen to her coach who told her otherwise. The coach Frank Carroll was aware that she had to practice 10 times harder. These are my thoughts.

  7. #14 No I do not think she was ready to move on beacause she didn't listen to the music."I was a good jumper but my skating wasn't elegant or beautiful.

Yes, I think she made the right choice to give up her ameteur status, because she thought she was ready even though she still had to work on her ice skating. Michelle proved she could be a senior skater, because she worked hard every day to make her skating better. Michelle said, "I felt like I knew me and my abilities better than anyone else." She wouldn't have become a senior skater if she didn't think she knew her abilities or herself. I think Michelle was ready to become a senior. All of her hard work transformed her into a much better skater.

I think she made the choice she made was good and bad. I think it was good because she belived in herself and she had self-confindence. I think it was a bad chioce because she did not let the music flow through her. Also she might over work herself.

  11. #20 She did the right thing and the wrong thing. She did the right thing because she always said she was ready for a new level,so the main thing she was right about what she did she always said she was ready. Michelle was wrong because, Frank thought she was not ready and if she lost he thinks she will have alot of pressure on her so, he is afraid she will quite out of skating.

At some points it was good but others were probably really hard. In the beggining Frank didn't support her choice of becoming a Senior skater. In the story he told her that she had no clue what she was doing and that she knew close to nothing about the artistic side of skating. One of the bad parts was that Michelle practiced really hard and did whatever Frank told her to. Another bad thing is the skates. She says they hurt your feet very bad. Soon her skating became really good. She competed and won many times. She had won many medals and was a fantastic skater and she was so young! She took on all of the challenges very well!

No I do think she was readdy to become a senior skater. Her coach got relly mad at her when she became a senior skater and did not talk to her for a while but, she was a good jumper. her coach said she was not listening to the music."Young lady, you have no idea what it means to be a senior skater."

Yes and no. Yes because she has alot of talent and springs(has good jumping power). No because she still does not now how to dance to the music and does not know all the jumps and spins.

Becoming an skater ment a lot to Michelle Kwan and she just didn't want to skate in the junior nationals and wanted to go to the senior nationals to fifill her dream of going to olympics.Though both her parents and her coach thought that she was to young to be a senior skater she got in anyway. she is a very smart, beautiful, and a very seccessful woman.

  17. #23 I think she did a bad job because she said that her toes were swollen and and that they herted. She said that they were puting to much presher.

  18. #27....... I think that Michelle should have stayed in the amatuer status for a bit longer so she could work on listening to the music and being elegant so she doesn't feel pressure. her coach, Frank told her the same thing. If she would have stayed in Amatuer Status she would get a chance to learn more and more. When she was ready, Michelle should have went to Senior status. I think she would have blown the judges away.So that's what Ithink Michelle should have done.

I do not think that she made the right choice when she left the juniors competitionto go to the senior she just wasn't ready, she wasn't grateful or elegent, she did not dance with the music, she did not even know what she got herself into she had to practic dancing with the steps, being more graceful and elegant, hair, and lots of hours practicing, and she mostly couldn't take a break it was competition after compitition all she had to do is practice and didn't have alot of time for school work, To prove this here is a quote in the story "Frank was right of course, I was a good jumper, but I was not elegent or beautiful. And I hadn't thought that much about really listening to the music I just got out there and jumped around" she said.

Yes, I think she made the right choice by going on to fulfill her dreams and set goals for herself and to achieve them. In the book Frank Carrol said, "You are going to have to transform you skating." So she has to try harder and harder to get good scores.

I thin she did the wright thing yes it was stressful, but if she hadn't done that she might not have had another opportunity. But it was hard making that kind of a jump before you even had enough practice or thought things through. It also was impatient like she admitted. I have to say she did the right thing, opportunities like that don't come along everyday.

I think it would of been a good choice if she did it a little later in her life because like the coach said in the story I want michelle to win the nationals and have a good time.
She was just impatient and she went right ahead and did it.

Quote: Like I said," I love a challenge."

She was making a sacrifice trying to skate professionally so early.
She gave up much free time and social life.
Her decision may have been better a little later in life, then again, maybe not.
The industry requires you be young. But she was doing something she loved.
So was it a good choice or not, that is the question.
But I think devoting energy to your goals is a good thing, so she did make a good
    choice.

  24. No because she wasn't ready yet. She dindn't what it meant to be a senior skater. I think she should have practiced another year and then forgo her amateur status.

Yes I do think that she made the right choice but her teacher dosen't. but in the story she said "I love a challenge." I all so think she made the bad choise because she could be really bad and fail and be sent back to novis. some times I wish I could be her.

  27. #7-yes I because if she didn't she would of never made it to the 1994 Olympics, and it also would of made her one of the youngist competiders in the Olympics to win a mettle.

  28. #22- Michelle spends hours on the ice praciting with her couch Frank Carroll above and her choreographers Lori Nichlo left. Kwan sister help her balance on the ice to have fun and to work hard. Michelle Kwan for right olympic traing center and the below performing at the 1992 Nationals. Frank thought Michelle was ready for Juinor nationals in 1992. Michelle mom was worried that she wasn't ready for the next big step.

  29. #28 I think she made the right choice she should follow her dreams. Michllel kwan I think is very independent and she can decide for herself unless she believes in that person.

I think that Michelle Kwan's idea about already wanting to go to the senior level was a bad one. She even said,"I was a good jumper but my skating wasn't elgant or beautiful." and Frank thought she needed to transform her skating and litsen to the music better. I don't think that it was smart just ignoring her coach for what he thought was best and just went along and did what she thought was best. It also showed she didn't have much respect for what he was trying to do for her. I think that next time she should be a little more patient with herself.

I think Michelle's idea dieing to go to the seniorwas a bad one beacause she even said "I was thinking ahead".

I think michelle did the right thing because then if she didnt go up to the seniors she wouldnt be in the competition.I also think that she did the wrong thing because she took the test behind Franks back.
